A New Yard
I'm finally getting done one of the prime projects I wanted to do while I'm at home. The front yard! It has looked rather dreary with each passing month for over a year. The roots had grown all over the top of the ground and the shade kept the grass from growing properly. So, this past week it finally got started. I had a sprinkler system installed in the front yard (the back yard is full of DOGS!, so I didn't bother with one back there, yet). Trenches were dug, pipe laid, sprinkler heads attached and trenches filled. I also wanted the drainage redirected to go to the side of the yard and on to the street. It has previously drained from the neighbors yards onto ours bringing sand with it. Therefore, the grass does not grow back there, either. Maddie and Ellie certainly add to the problem! A trench was dug from the back fence to the front fence line and about 40 feet into the side yard. Two drain boxes were installed and pipe was connected to them to carry rain water to the side yard. Then, bull rock was placed over the trench to create a dry river bed. Three boulders were also put in the backyard. I also had the front flower bed redone. Some shrubs were dug up and replanted and rock was added to enlarge the beds. Grass was laid in the front yard on Thursday and it looks so good. But...it isn't completed, yet. They still need to finish the sprinkler system, plant some bushes and other plants, lay another pallet of grass and spread grass seed in the backyard. By the end of next week, I should have a really great looking front yard and a backyard that drains to the front. I can't wait for it to rain so I can see the water drain!
Today I ordered a new fridge. The one we have was bought when Hailey was an infant! It still works perfectly, but I would THINK its time is coming!!! The new one will be have the french doors with the freezer on the bottom.
